I am Glynda Marcus---"Glyn" of Glyns Glass--living and working in Moab, Utah for the last five years. My family moved to Moab from Texas, where I was born. The red rock beauty of southeastern Utah drew me, as it has many artists, to make this my home.
I began as a sculptor, tried pottery, fiber arts, and writing, but found my true love is working in glass. Glass is a liquid solid, a material in chaos. What could be more exciting than creating art from chaos? I love the adventure of working with a material that seems to have a will of its own, breaking perfectly one time and refusing to break at all the next. Even the color of glass changes with changing light.
Now I have expanded to etching glass in a sandblasting cabinet. Etching adds materials to work with such as tile, stone, and wood; and allows me to create textures in glass through shadings and carving.
