Time Traveler Series
Throughout History there has existed an extraordinary relationship between humans
and ravens. This relationship is an extremely ancient one. As I walk to the various
petroglyph sites in Utah I am aware that a raven or two lingers close by, observing
my every movement, and I can't help but wonder what is stored in their memories of
another day, and another artist. Artists who lived many centuries ago who come
alive again through the images they painted on the rock formations. These rock
images are inseparable from the spirits of the raven, and the artists who created them.

The La Sal Mountain Bear Series
It was over the summer that I became enthralled with the La Sal Mountain black
bear. It seemed everywhere we went we spotted a black bear off the trail, or the two
bears we came to that sat in the middle of the road as though they were directing traffic
or collecting the toll for the use of the roadway. Or there was simply the dark blur which
quickly, very, very quietly passed by in the deep dark timbered section of the mountains.
I was intriqued with the signs of them everywhere; the claw marks in the trees
they had climbed, to the paw prints in the wet mud around the ponds. The various
colors of the bears range from deep red to cinnamon to brown to black.
I have portrayed the La Sal Mountain black bears as soft and fuzzy and whimsical. I
hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed the process of painting them. However, the
La Sal Mountain black bears in their mountain environment are real, and are not teddy
bears!

Car Show Classics
For the past few years, my grown children and grandchildren have planned their
Spring vacations around the annual April Action Car Show in Moab. At dusk, we
gather along Main Street, with what seems like the entire community, in order to Ooh &
Aah, as the cars parade up and down the street.
Our busy lives disappear for a short period of time. As the sun sets, we stand in
front of the local Diner, and are once again part of small town America.
To hang onto those feelings, I began to sketch and then render the cars in
watercolor, and magically, for a short period of time, my busy life disappears.
